London trip
Posted Jan 18, 2010 at 17:52 CET in Travel.
Me and Henrik will probably go to London sometime this year, so I wanted to ask if anyone has any tips on things I shouldn’t miss when I’m there!
Some places I’m already planning on going are The Wallace Collection, Lulu Guinness, What Katie Did and Vivien of Holloway.

Ah, kjempeflott!

London!! Where I live XD you should check out the V&A!! Grace Kelly’s wardrobe will be on display there between mid april and september too if that’s of any interest :) x

If you like historical costume you should go to the V&A museum which has a costume collection going from the 16th century to the present day http://www.vam.ac.uk/collections/fashion/index.ht….
I also recommend the John Soanes museum in Lincoln inn fields which is an amazing old weird house http://www.soane.org/
For shopping the east end is the best for vintage with Brick lane and spitalfields market being the best on a Sunday. I recommend “This shop Rocks” on Brick Lane.
You should also go to Columbia road flower market on a sunday too. I hope these are good tips and if you need any more advice email me as I have been living in London a long time now.
Hope you have a good trip.

You might like this vintage warehouse there: http://www.beyondretro.com/
London is great :) Also the zoos and the parks!

…and I second the V&A. It is wonderful. Oh, and the Bethnal Museum of Childhood has a lot of old and new toys- http://www.vam.ac.uk/moc/ I always find it terribly hard to leave there!

I think you should check out Absolute Vintage (http://www.absolutevintage.co.uk/) and Blondie which is just around the corner. Absolute is a massive warehouse full of vintage clothes, jackets, bags, and hundred of shoes. Blondie is owned by the same group just around the corner, but they have more designer pieces.

Thank you so much for all the recommendations! I had somehow forgotten about the V&A, I’m definitely going there.

For food, try the restaurant Les trois garcons ,www.lestroisgarcons.com. It’s an old pub converted into a french restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere. You’ll be met at the door by a stuffed bulldog with angel wings and a tiara. Handbags are hanging from the ceiling and jewellery are decorating the walls. Sounds nice? The food is excellent as well. Try it out and let me know what you think.

I second a whole host of the above, especially the V&A and The Wallace Collection. If you get time it might be worth going to Portobello Market - lots of lovely antique shops and don’t forget Fortumn and Mason and Burlington Arcade for lovely Laduree macaroons. Have a wonderful trip x
