Any tips for movies set at sunny vacation spots? I’m getting a bit tired of winter now and feel like dreaming about summer!

Mamma Mia and James Bond Casino Royale (James Bond films in general though). :))

Testing testing the gravatar thingy.

I’m such a movie buff, so usually I’m excellent at recommending movies based on any set theme, but I just realized that summer movies really ain’t my thing.

Any L.A. movie works for me, summer wise, Tarantino’s your best bet there.
Also, nothing says warmth and sun to me like Brazil (not Gilliam, but the country), and there’s been a lot of exciting things going on in Brazilian cinema these past few years.

So essencially;

-Pulp Fiction
-Jackie Brown
-Cidade de Deus
-Amarelo Manga

…and because I’m me; Revenge of The Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise.

Stealing Beauty, To Catch a Thief, Do the Right Thing, Now & Then

Films with beaches or beach scenes in them: Some Like it Hot, The Beach, Roman Holiday, Gidget, A summer Palace, They’re a Weird Mob, Sex and the City (the 1st movie)
Not necessarily ‘beach films’ but have a summery feel: Gentlemen prefer blondes, The Misfits,
PS Can you tell I’m a huge Marilyn fan?!

Where the Boys Are!

South Pacific is an old musical set in a sunny place :)

Ah, yes, how could I forget Where The Boys Are!

But I suppose miss Cedar refers to the original, whereas I really recommend the 1984 remake. Pure fun, great soundtrack.

I don’t know how much you like tv, but Dexter is all set in Miami. It has such a sensuous atmosphere sometimes.

SHAG.
good ol’ movie set in the 60s about a group of girls taking their friend on one last weekend to myrtle beach before she gets married.

But those last days I’m pretty much into “Notorious” by Hitchcock, which you can find in eleven parts on youtube !

Like your blog, Miss Johanna.
