I saw pale kings and princes too,
Pale warriors, death-pale were they all;
They cried—“La Belle Dame sans Merci
Hath thee in thrall!”

John Keats’ La Belle Dame sans Merci. You can read the entire poem here.

Wow! I love it, the ghosts in the back remind me a lot of the dead elves in the swamp from the Lord of the Rings: the Two Towers - the red as the nipples are a lovely touch too!

Her face is particularly beautiful :) x

This is amazing! I love that poem and this is an absolutely wonderful interpretation of it :D I especially love her eyes & eyebrows.

This is one of my favourite poems ever. I am very glad you made her a redhead :)

Thank you! I was actually going to make her a very fair blonde first, since everyone paints her as a redhead, but that didn’t contrast enough with the background.

One of my all-time favorite poems – you have done it justice, and then some. Beautiful. ♥

just lovely!! and the poem too, I studied it last year and had forgotten how good it was!! The back ground is so creepy too- in a good way :)

It’s very lovely!
There is an french text with the same title: “La Belle Dame sans merci” by Alain Chartier. This text dates from 1424.

Wonderful work! I love this piece!
