Yesterday Dakota of Sweetheart of the Rodeo posted some fantastic photos of Scottsdale, Arizona from the LIFE archive. I was absolutely mesmerized by these photos and went to check if there were more, and there was! I couldn’t keep from sharing the ones Dakota didn’t show, but there are tons so I’m breaking them into two posts.

If you want to see the rest you should head over to Sweetheart of the Rodeo, which you should do anyway because it’s a wonderful blog.

I absolutely adore vintage western things so these are so completely up my alley. There is something so surreal and David Lynch-like about both the imagery and photo quality. I can only agree with Dakota, I so want to live inside these pictures. I’m putting Scottsdale on my places I’d like to travel list!

The photos were taken by Nina Leen sometime in the 1950s.
