Cover Girl (1944) is one of Rita Hayworth’s most famous movies. I love watching it, despite the fact that I dislike the whole “stay in your place and don’t try to be special” message. What makes it great are the amazing fashions and colours, and the wonderful Eve Arden!

There’s a definite style to the cover girl fashions, lots of sharp suits and spectacular hats in saturated colours, and I’ve been very inspired by the look lately.

These outfits are just perfection.

The scatter brooches, the cuffs, the hats, chartreuse and magenta against black!

Amazing! I love all the colour schemes. I can’t decide which outfit is the best.

This woman is so beautiful! She only has a small part and I don’t know who the actress is though.

Her outfit! I’d like to make a velvet ribbon accessory thing like that.

Model Jinx Falkenburg plays herself.

I love the sparkly top (or necklace?) under her jacket.

Wonderful outfit. The buttons and brooches are like candy or resin.

I have never seen this film, but so much great hair, and some fab dresses too! Might have to check it out, despite the message but hey ho!

I have to find this movie. Thank you for recommending it. Btw where do you find vintage movies on dvd or blu-ray with subtitles? Do have some advice to share?

Sanne, I’m afraid I download most movies and only use English subtitles if any. I definitely recommend trying to find it though.

in the Ruins of Berlin

How much I love this movie, I have seen it so many times but I still watch it again and again because of the brilliant Eve Arden, all the overdone colourful accessoires, the cool Gene Kelly-dancing with myself-number and the positive feeling it left you with… the storyline is unprogressive but I don´t care! Thank you for this post, I know now what I will do this evening ;-)

MEN GUD! MÅSTE SE!!

Jisses, har du inte sett Cover Girl?! Absolut ett måste!

Oh I love this movie so much….for it’s costumes….and dance numbers! But the costumes are to die for! Thank you for posting!
