Earth Girls are Easy

I haven’t shown any movie screencaps in ages but now it’s time again!

Earth Girls are Easy is seriously one of my most favourite movies ever. It’s about a manicurist played by Geena Davis (who I love) and three aliens that crash their ship in her pool. She works at a salon with the best name ever, Curl Up and Dye, and her best friend, played by Julie Brown (who by the way must have one of the most perfect bodies ever), gives the aliens human makeovers.

This movie has everything, great music including the B-52s and Depeche Mode, makeover scenes, a crazy dream sequence featuring scenes from Jean Cocteau’s La Belle et la bête, and last but not least an insanely sexy Jeff Goldblum with a magic “love touch”. And it’s really really funny.

I remember watching it with my dad as a kid and always remembered the title and the furry aliens and that Geena Davis and Jeff Goldblum were in it. I looked it up again one or two years ago and I’m really glad I did. I just want it to go on forever and when it’s over I want to watch it again! It makes me want to live in the Valley in the 80s and be friends with Julie Brown.

See tons of screencaps! »

Sex Pistols buttons on Etsy

I found these amazing (and huge!) buttons at a flea market many years ago and couldn’t pass them up. While I enjoy the Sex Pistols I’m not exactly a huge fan and never really felt comfortable wearing the buttons, so I’m finally listing them on Etsy. They belong with a true fan! Horror movie tips

I’d like some tips for cozy horror movies! Ones that aren’t truly horrifying and and make you feel sick, but rather pleasantly scary. Stephen King’s It is a perfect example, and I’m partial to anything with werewolves or ghosts and classic 80s horror movies.

Pretty Things by Liz Goldwyn

I though I’d do a series of posts on my favourite books with glamourous subjects. Starting with Liz Goldwyn’s Pretty Things.

This is just one of the best books ever. It’s a big book about “the last generation of American burlesque queens” and contains tons of photos, and many costume sketches. Although the main attraction for me are the pictures the text is great as well. It’s an absolutely gorgeous book, inside and out. The cover is pink, white and gold and the photos inside are huge and beautifully laid out.

I had this book on my Amazon wishlist forever but found my copy in a used bookstore in San Francisco a couple of years ago, and I’m so pleased to own it.
