I’m having a commission campaign over at my art site, 50% off commissions until August 31! You can order a portrait, a tattoo design, or just anything you can think of. Perhaps a bookmark or bookplate?

The exact pricing for commissions is decided on an individual basis, but unless it’s something unusual it’s always close to the price examples on my commissions page. The offer does not apply to sculpture, commercial use and other special usage rights. Check out the commission page to learn more.

Keep reading to see some more examples of commissions I’ve made for other people.

Lower prices on old artworks

I just went through everything on my art site, lowering the prices on a lot of older pictures. Also, a bunch of older pictures that were previously not for sale have been made available, like the painting above. You can browse all pictures in chronological order starting from the back to find the old ones.

Print design

Posted Oct 26, 2008 at 19:17 CET in The art site.

At the present my prints come with a white margin and a “Johanna Öst” text underneath the picture, but lately I have considered changing them to only the picture. Personally I prefer prints without text, and even though you can crop the margin if you want to I would prefer a larger actual picture with no need for cropping.

Before changing them I want to ask your opinion, do you like the text or would it be better without? If you own one of my prints, did you crop it?

Prints made from small originals would still have a margin since they wouldn’t look good blown up. I’d have to decide if I should crop those prints or leave the white, same with pictures that doesn’t have the same proportions as an A4 paper. I guess a good thing with the current design is that all prints have the same size, and a size that is good for framing. Maybe a minimal margin with no text could be a compromise?

I could also offer both alternatives, but if no one wants the text it’s probably better to just change them.
