Jumbo

I often make screen caps from pretty movies so I thought I’d start sharing them here at the blog.

I’m starting with the 1962 movie Jumbo with Doris Day. There were two scenes in it that were extraordinarily beautiful. One where the circus parades through a town with a carriage pulled by white winged horses, and one pretty long scene where Doris, wearing the most beautiful pink circus princess outfit ever, performs with a white horse with pink glittery hooves.

The rest of the movie wasn’t all that interesting as far as I remember, but those two scenes were amazing. Unfortunately I only have these small screen caps from the TV, so if anyone happens to have it on dvd or something and has some better ones I’d love to see them.

Print design

Oct 26, 2008 in My art and illustration

At the present my prints come with a white margin and a “Johanna Öst” text underneath the picture, but lately I have considered changing them to only the picture. Personally I prefer prints without text, and even though you can crop the margin if you want to I would prefer a larger actual picture with no need for cropping.

Before changing them I want to ask your opinion, do you like the text or would it be better without? If you own one of my prints, did you crop it?

Prints made from small originals would still have a margin since they wouldn’t look good blown up. I’d have to decide if I should crop those prints or leave the white, same with pictures that doesn’t have the same proportions as an A4 paper. I guess a good thing with the current design is that all prints have the same size, and a size that is good for framing. Maybe a minimal margin with no text could be a compromise?

I could also offer both alternatives, but if no one wants the text it’s probably better to just change them.
