A couple of years ago I showed some photos of my Grandmother’s wedding dress. I just found these photos taken at the same time that were shot in bad lighting and didn’t make the post, but now I think they’re quite nice and show the dress really well.

My Halloween costume for this year is Princess Aura, my favourite character from the wonderful Flash Gordon serials. It’s probably the most ambitious Halloween costume I’ve made so far, with props and all.

I’ve been working on quite an ambitious Halloween costume this year, but when my parents brought this playsuit that used to belong to my grandmother, and used to be in our dress up box when we were kids, I realised it looks a lot like those 1920s Halloween costumes you see in fashion prints.

I made some cardboard and crepe paper accessories, and made it an extra, pre-Halloween costume. A sort of 1920s Halloween witch chorus girl.

I have no idea how old this garment actually is, the fabric feels just like t-shirt fabric, but the cut is perfect for a 20s look.

A while ago we were seriously considering buying this beautiful house in our neighbourhood. However it is pretty much in total disrepair, so after some examination we realised fixing it up would take us many years.

While I would love to restore an old house we weren’t ready to take on such a massive project, and even if we did eventually fix it up it would probably still be a bit too small.

Since it’s unfortunately quite likely to be torn down by the new buyer (I hope not!), I went there to take some photos of it before it’s too late.

As I said in the autumn inspiration post, I’m particularly inspired by European folk influences this autumn. This outfit has influences from Swedish folk costumes but the suspender skirt has a bit of a German look.

As I said in the Instagram post, I went to a Hollywood themed club this weekend. I made a sparkly skirt to go with my sequined tiger print blouse (also made by me) and went as a jungle queen à la 1940s Hollywood.
